The trip offers 5 days of incredible single trails around the Icelandic highlands. Expert guides will lead the way throughout the adventure. We'll transport luggage and supplies from one highland hut to another, make nice meals and share stories at the end of each day.

The tour is suitable for riders at intermediate and advanced level. Riders will have to be able to be on the move for several hours a day, riding 20-40 km through rolling terrains, some climbs, great descents. Please note that the tour requires some hiking with your bike.

The trip is available July - September upon request. Please find our guaranteed departures for a semi-private tours to the right on the page. Dates for 2017 are yet to be announced.

Rough itinerary

Day 1

We'll start the trip from Reykjavik. Our warm up trail is a traverse from Ölkelduháls down the Reykjadalur valley, just 45 minutes drive from Reykjavik.
After a short rest at the end of the ride and a bath in the warm water of Hveragerði swimming pool we'll transport to Landmannalaugar area where we'll stay for our first two nights.

Day 2

Today we'll ride around the Landmannalaugar area. It has extremely nice trails and otherworldly like landscapes. The area is famous for it's natural beauty, vivid colours and geothermal activity.
In the afternoon/evening we'll enjoy a bath in Landmannalaugar's natural hot spring.

Day 3

Day three and four are dedicated to the first part of the Laugavegur trail. The trail has been voted one of the top 10 best cycling trails in the world. Today we'll tackle the first half of the trail, leading us to Álftavötn. We'll stay in a hut nested by the lake, enjoy our meal and rest before moving on the following day.

Day 4

The second half of the Laugavegur trail is on today's menu. We start early from Álftavötn making our way to Emstrur. Again and again we can guarantee you'll be amazed with the magnificent nature and view (of course the view is always up to weather conditions but one can find beauty in many forms).
From Emstrur to Þórsmörk valley is an excellent trail, rolling hills and bare sands leading in to the lush valley. All of this with the majestic Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull glaciers in the background. Today has it all. We'll overnight in Þórsmörk valley.

Day 5

Hike from Þórsmörk to Baldvinsskáli at the top of Fimmvörðuháls. From there we'll bike downhill to Skógar. Bikes will be transferred from Þórsmörk to Baldvinsskáli.

Today is close to perfection. The trail from Þórsmörk is scenic and demanding. We'll hike past the craters created in the volcanic eruption on Fimmvörðuháls in 2010, walk across the fresh lavafield (still warm in some spots) and make your way to the highest point on the pass.

At Baldvinsskáli bikes will be waiting for you to enjoy the amazing single trail down to Skógarfoss waterfall.
